Quick Tips for Auto Glass Tinting Beginners
You have your auto glass tint, and you’re ready to apply it yourself! Here’s our best tips for making sure the process goes as smoothly as possible.
- Apply Your Auto Glass Tinting in an Appropriate Environment
Preferably, this means inside your garage. This way, you have a lot of space to move around your automobile, and can deal with any potential spills if they happen.
If you don’t have a garage, though, you can use any shaded area that is free of dust and wind. Next to a wall on a quiet day would be perfect for this. If you live in an environment with extreme temperatures, be careful to apply it on a day between 40 and 98 degrees Fahrenheit. If you live in a city, consider finding an indoors parking garage to complete the process.
- Have a Clean Window
This means removing any pre-existing window tint which may be on your windows, as well as any other dirt or stains you find on there.
Remember to not use just Windex or any other household glass cleaners you may find around. Using ammonia or alcohol-based vehicles can lead to damage to the tinting. If you don’t have any available, you can use our Glass Cleaner. Apply it to both sides of your windows / windshields, then scrape away dirt with a clean, single-razor blade (or scrub hard with your squeegee or towel).
For best results, you’ll want to do this twice. Then dry the glass and you’re good to go.
- For Large Windows, Bring a Friend
If it’s a large window, you may want to bring along a friend or family member to help you out. This extra support will make the whole process a lot simpler. But if it’s a small window, you’ll be able to do this yourself.
